Grinnell College Abstract
The ability of computer algebra systems to factor has opened the door for the discovery of beautiful identities. This talk looks at four areas of application: generalizing Ramanujan's 6-8-10 formula, polynomial equations which represent theorems of plane geometry, identities obtained by LU decompositions of matrices, and a generalization of Gauss's Cyclotomic Formula.
