Let *TeX Embedding failed!*. It is known that the solutions of the functional equation

TeX Embedding failed! |

form an either zero- or one-dimensional subspace of the space of *TeX Embedding failed!*-functions with support on *TeX Embedding failed!*. Moreover, for all *TeX Embedding failed!* the first case obtains, while for almost all (but not all) *TeX Embedding failed!* the second case holds. The *TeX Embedding failed!* can be formulated as the problem to find those values of *TeX Embedding failed!* for which a non-trivial *TeX Embedding failed!*-solution exists. In the talk, we present some ideas for the case where *TeX Embedding failed!* is a rational number.
